Cyclones Season Kickoff: A Great Start to the 2026–27 Season

The 2026–27 Cyclones season is officially underway, and we have a lot to celebrate.

21 Teams. Nearly 300 Players. One Cyclones Community.

Over the past two weeks, we successfully completed tryouts and evaluations from Mites through Midgets, including three Girls teams. When the process wrapped up, nearly 300 players had earned spots across 21 Cyclones teams.

Running tryouts on this scale takes an incredible amount of coordination, patience, and teamwork.

As our Hockey Director shared following the process:

“I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for your support and patience throughout the tryout/evaluation process. I'm so proud of our entire staff.

To all of the volunteers that made the process seamless for our membership, thank you. To our board members that worked tirelessly behind the scenes for months leading up to tryouts, thank you.

To our coaching staff that evaluated, strategized, and deliberated on the selection of every player in our program, thank you.

Most of all, to our players for putting forth such a great effort each and every time they stepped on the ice, THANK YOU.”

We couldn’t agree more. Thank you to everyone who helped make the start of the season a success.

A Busy—and Successful—August

Tryouts weren’t the only thing happening around the club.

Our 3rd Annual Cyclones Golf Outing was another tremendous success! Thank you to everyone who golfed, sponsored, donated, volunteered, or otherwise helped make the event possible. A special thanks to Semper Fi Construction for providing the golf ball cannon!

We also completed our annual Parking Spot Auction. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped support the Cyclones, and congratulations to this year’s winning families:

  • Menna Family
  • Mulizio Family
  • Denic Family
  • Passo Family
  • Sullivan Family

We capped off a busy stretch with our Welcome Back BBQ, bringing Cyclones families together for a fun afternoon at the rink while raising additional funds for the club.

Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, donated, sponsored, organized, or simply showed up. These events are an important part of what makes the Cyclones more than just a collection of hockey teams.

Our Coaches Are Ready, Too

Our coaching staff officially kicked off the season with the Annual Cyclones Coaches Meeting, bringing together coaches from across the organization for an evening focused on leadership, player development, and team culture.

The conversation centered around a simple idea:

Our coaches’ most important job is to help kids continue to fall in love with the game of hockey.

We also covered mentorship, decision-making under stress, building strong team environments, supporting our goalies, and the responsibility our coaches have to model the character and leadership we want to see in our players.

It was a great opportunity to bring our staff together, align around what matters most, and begin the season with a shared purpose.

September Hockey Is Here

Now the fun really begins.

Throughout September, several Cyclones teams will be heading out for their first tournaments of the season, while most of our teams begin league seeding games.

The early weeks of the season are about building chemistry, establishing good habits, learning to compete together, and continuing to develop both individually and as a team.

Good luck to all of our players and coaches. Represent the Cyclones well, compete hard, be great teammates, and have fun doing it.

Live Every Day the Faz Way

This summer, Tristan Musser completed a 72-hole Golf-a-thon at Warren Golf Course at Notre Dame in honor of his beloved friend and teammate, Mike Fazio.

Tristan walked all 72 holes and used the challenge to raise money in support of the Live Every Day the Faz Way Scholarship.

The Golf-a-thon may be complete, but donations are still being accepted, and every contribution helps support the scholarship and Mike’s legacy.

Donations can be made by Venmo to @Tristan-Musser

Applications for the Live Every Day the Faz Way Scholarship are not yet open. We’ll share additional information with the Cyclones community when the application period begins.

Girls Hockey Registration Is Still Open

There’s still time to join the Cyclones Girls program for the 2026–27 season.

Players interested in joining one of our Girls teams can register here:

Cyclones Prep Registration Is Open

Is your child ready for the transition into Cyclones Hockey? Our Cyclones Prep Program is the perfect place to begin!

Based on the USA Hockey American Development Model (ADM), this skills development program focuses on enhancing skating, stick handling, and teamwork through station-based skill drills, small area games, and fun Jamboree games.

This program is recommended ages 5 to 9 years old. Anyone outside of that age range would need a free evaluation by the director to enter the program. It is recommended that any player has completed a learn to skate program, hockey 1 program or equivalent.

Get Involved: Associate Board Member Applications

Interested in becoming more involved with the Cyclones?

The Board is accepting applications for Associate Board Member (ABM) positions for the 2026–27 season.

Associate Board Members help support specific areas of the organization and provide an opportunity for members of our community to contribute their time, expertise, and ideas to the club.

If you’re interested in helping make the Cyclones better, we encourage you to apply.

See You at the Rink

The energy around the club heading into this season has been fantastic. We have nearly 300 players wearing the Cyclones logo, dozens of coaches investing their time in our kids, and hundreds of families supporting them along the way.

There will be wins and losses, tournaments, early mornings, late nights, great moments, difficult ones, and plenty of memories made in between.

Through all of it, our goal remains the same:

Create a hockey experience our kids love being part of.

Thank you for being part of the Cyclones community.

Here’s to a great 2026–27 season.

Go Cyclones! 🏒
