  • We will teach solid fundamentals and clean footwork, to allow our goalies to effectively use our instruction and apply it to their game.

Our on-ice training is built on the philosophy that when goaltenders develop sound fundamentals and athleticism, they will be better prepared for the multiple challenges a goaltender is sure to face during competition. This foundation of fundamentals and athleticism also allows goaltenders to develop their own style in stopping the puck giving them the freedom to play the game rather than trying to remember and follow a predetermined system.

We take great pride in our ability to effectively communicate with kids in a way that challenges them and clarifies the skills they are looking to train. We work diligently to create an environment that fosters inspiration, ownership, challenge and the freedom to try new skills without fear of failure.

Goalie Clinic is included with Firehawks Tournament Teams & Cyclones Northwest League.

  • Q- Is the showcase game option available for mites?

A- No, the showcase game option is not available for mite for our Spring Program. Northwest Spring League is a great option for our mite players.

    Q- Will there be tryouts?

A- No. 3v3/tournament option will not include tryouts. The coaches will make selections once the program begins. For Northwest, we will only have evaluations should we need them based on registration numbers. Teams will be divided up evenly as possible to ensure a good experience for all.

Q- When are skills? Practices? Off-ice?

A- We have received our ice slots from Fox Valley Ice Arena. We are working on assigning appropriate time slots right now and will have that information out very soon.

Q- Who is the coach of each level?

A- We will announce the finalized coaching lineup and level as soon as the State/NIHL/NWHL/CUHL Playoffs are complete. We are currently in discussions with some great new additions to our Coaching Staff, but they need to complete their current seasons before anything is finalized. We will get that information out to everyone in early March. We appreciate your patience.

Q- How are tournament teams selected?

A- The coaching staff will get together to determine which players at each level will work together to create a competitive team for each tournament. Each player will be invited to play in one tournament guaranteed.

    Reminders

    Checking Clinics

Any new bantam players need to attend the USA Hockey required 2-hour clinic. Our internal checking clinics will be held on April 1st and April 2nd.

This will be required for all 2011’s skaters and goalies.

This is also recommended as a refresher for all 2009 and 2010 birth year players.

USA Hockey mandates that any 14U level or higher player skater and goalie that has not participated in a checking clinic before, take at least 2 hours of checking clinics. Your player will learn the fundamentals of how to properly give a body check, receive a body check, and how protect him or herself from injury during game situations. You must register for the checking clinic. We encourage all 14U skaters to participate even if they have taken a body-checking clinic in the past.

Remember that The Cyclones encourage our players to enjoy multiple sports as it will help to make them all-around better athletes, which will help them on the ice in the Fall. We have created our Spring Program to give options to families that make dual sport participation possible.

We want to see as many of our Cyclones family as well as new families join us this Spring. Your participation helps the organization succeed in our mission that we stated at the top of this note. We can't do it without you and your players (and we wouldn't want to).

If you have any additional questions at this time, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your Spring Manager if you are a current member, or any of our Cyclones Board Members or Staff. We are here to help guide you to your best option with the Cyclones.

We hope to see you around the rink very soon!
